Present Simple Tense (Part 2)

Usage of simple present:  أستخدام المضارع البسيط

• We use that tense when we talk about:

a) An action that happens regularly, that means that it could happen every (day, week, year, 100 years,............Etc).

As long as it happens regularly you should use the simple present.

أحنا بنستخدم الزمن ده عشان نتكلم علي حاجه بتحصل بشكل منتظم يعني علي فترات ثابته حتي لو كل 100سنه طالما بأنتظام نستخدم المضارع البسيط.

Examples:

1.  I listen to English audios on a daily basis.

أنا بستمع لدوس صوتيه بالأنجليزي بشكل يومي.

2.  He goes to work five days a week.

هو بيروح الشغل 5 أيام في الاسبوع

3.  The team plays a match every three days.

الفرقه بتلعب ماتش كل 3 أيام.

b)We also use the present simple to talk about facts: facts are true statements.

كمان بنستخدم المضارع البسيط للحديث عن الحقائق الثابته . بص علي الأمثله اللي جايه.

Examples:  

1.  The water boils at 100 Celsius.

الماء بيغلي عند درجه حراره 100 مئويه.

2.  The year consists of 12 months.

السنه بتتكون من 12 شهر.

3.  The earth circles around the sun every 365 days.

الأرض بتدور حول الشمس كل 365 يوم تقريبا.

4.  I am 39 years old.

أنا عندي 39 سنه.

c) We use that tense for scheduled events (events that happen at certain times in the future especially times of arrival, departure)

المضارع البسيط بيستخدم كمان للحديث عن الحاجات اللي بتحصل في مواعيد ثابته ومحدده في المستقبل.

: Examples

1.  Our flight to Paris (leaves) on September 11^th at 10:30 pm.

رحلتنا الجويه اللي رايحه باريس هتغادر يوم 11 شهر سبتمبر الساعه 10:30 بالليل.

2.  Man city plays against Chelsea on April 7^th.

مانشستر سيتي هيلاعب تشيلسي في شهر أبريل يوم 7.

So, even though the action happens in the future, we use the present simple because it goes according to a schedule.

فعلي الرغم أن الفعل هيحصل في المستقبل ألا أننا بنستخدم المضارع البسيط لان الفعل محدد من قبل كده في جدول,

مثلا جدول الدوري الأنجليزي بيبقي محطوط قبلها بسنه كامله ومعروف كل فرقه هتلاعب مين علي مدار السنه.

d)Finally we use the simple present with certain verbs like (see, hear, love……)

Examples:

1.   I see you

2. they hear you

3. She loves you.

أخيرا المضارع البسط بيستخدم مع أفعال محدده. (أنظر الأمثله اللي فوق).

Key words:     الكلمات الداله علي الزمن

1.  Every (day, week, month……etc)

Paul goes to church every Sunday.

2.Often          غالبا

3. Always  دائما

4.  usually  عادة

5.   Sometimes    أحيانا
